Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to close the bridge to all traffic beginning on Monday, June 3.  Built in 1930, the bridge has narrow driving lanes and the pedestrian facilities are in poor condition. To update the bridge to modern standards and improve the traveling surface, the deck and girders – the superstructure – will be replaced. The pedestrian facilities will also be upgraded during the project to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  The contractor will have 75 calendar days to complete the project and is expected to reopen the road in mid-August. A signed detour will direct motorists around the closure via Route 100 and Route Z.   All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.  The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $1,259,505.35 contract to Don Schnieders Excavating Company, Inc. to complete this work.
